And most women seem to pick up on this, but I sometimes wonder if some women might almost be cynical enough - especially if they had been "burned" or seen the seamier side of life - to misunderstand him.
In The Double Clue, we see him seeing Vera off on the train, probably late at night, so he may have gone to her hotel to make sure she would actually get to the train...do you think there's any chance she would misinterpret why he showed up there?
