Thanks, Finch

       I walked along the bridge and sighed, pulling my coat a little tighter around me. Detective Carter had texted me and requested a meeting. I couldn’t think what she wanted, but I told her I would come as soon as I could. She came up to me and smiled a little uncomfortably.
       “Finch,” she said slowly. “John told me what you did for him. How you – risked your life to save his. I just wanted to say –”
       She broke off with what could only be described as a stifled sob, and wrapped her arms around me. I let out a little cry, and stiffened, looking down at her uncomfortably. She momentarily rested her head against my shoulder, and I relaxed a little, putting my arms lightly around her.
       “Thanks, Finch,” she smiled.
After a moment she pulled back and wiped away a tear.
       I looked at her, a little stunned. “You’re welcome, detective.”
       She smiled, and walked away.
